Jim Banks

Jim Banks (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2017. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Banks (Republican Party) is running for election to the U.S. Senate to represent Indiana. He is on the ballot in the Republican primary on May 7, 2024.

Banks was first elected to the office in 2016. Banks won re-election in 2018 with 64.7 percent of the vote.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Banks worked in the real estate and construction businesses. He began serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2012. Banks served on the Whitley County Council from 2008 to 2010 and in the Indiana State Senate from 2010 to 2016. He was the first Indiana legislator to take an extended leave of absence to fulfill service as an active member of the military. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 and returned in 2015.
