Jim Jordan

Jim Jordan (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2007. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Jordan (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Ohio’s 4th Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. He advanced from the Republican primary on March 19, 2024.

On October 4, 2023, Jordan announced he was running to replace Kevin McCarthy (R) as speaker of the U.S. House in the 118th Congress. Jordan won the Republican nomination to be speaker on October 13, 2023. On October 20, Republicans voted to withdraw Jordan’s nomination in the house speaker election.

In November 2018, Jordan won an uncontested race for Republican ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

According to Roll Call, Jordan became chairman of the House Freedom Caucus in February 2015 when the caucus was first formed.

Before his election to the U.S. House, Jordan served in the Ohio State Senate from 2001 to 2007 and the Ohio House of Representatives from 1995 to 2000.

Jordan was born in Troy, Ohio. He earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1986, and an M.Ed. from Ohio State University in 1991.
