Everything’s bigger in Texas — including Greg Abbott’s campaign firepower. On Sunday night in Houston, the Texas governor launched his bid for a historic fourth term, making it abundantly clear he’s not just running for re-election — he’s running to keep Texas the last stronghold of real American conservatism.
“Texas is the blueprint for America’s future,” Abbott told a packed crowd of roughly 1,500 supporters gathered at East River 9 Golf Course, the Houston skyline glowing behind him. His speech hit all the right notes: property tax relief, border security, parental rights, and a firm stand against the woke left.
Abbott wasted no time calling out the bureaucrats draining Texans’ wallets. “No taxing entity should be able to raise your property taxes without two-thirds approval by voters,” he declared to thunderous applause. His plan? A sweeping overhaul that would finally put taxpayers — not politicians — in charge. Among the highlights: a 3% cap on appraisal growth, mandatory rollback elections, and even a constitutional amendment allowing Texans to eliminate school district property taxes altogether.

In other words: big government, meet Texas-sized accountability.
Abbott didn’t stop there. He vowed another $10 billion in property tax cuts while blasting blue counties like Harris for playing shell games with tax loopholes. “We’re going to turn the tables on local taxing authorities and put the power with the people,” he said.
Then came the border. And Abbott didn’t mince words: “Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents were unleashed to do their jobs.” The crowd erupted. He touted Operation Lone Star, the state’s signature border security initiative that has deployed Texas troops, constructed its own wall, and rolled out razor wire — all while the Biden administration looks the other way. “Texas is the only state in American history to build our own border wall,” Abbott said.

Abbott’s message to the woke left was as direct as a West Texas highway: “We will not let socialist policies take root in Texas.” He torched liberal states like New York and California for their lawless spending and sanctuary city chaos, warning voters that “in one election, government can crash the economy, destroy your jobs, and open the borders.”
He also drew a line in the sand on culture and education. “School choice equals competition,” Abbott said, pledging to empower parents and end classroom indoctrination. “We will stop the radicals who are trying to shove Texas to the far progressive land. We ban DEI athletics.”
The governor wrapped his speech with a note of Texas pride that felt like a call to arms. “Texas is not just another state. It’s our home. Our heritage. Texas is the heartbeat of this land we call America,” Abbott declared. “We are Texans, and in 2026 we will remind the whole world that the spirit of Texas will never be broken. Let’s roll.”
It was vintage Abbott — tough, confident, and unapologetically conservative. And if Sunday’s rally was any indication, his campaign won’t just be about holding Texas — it’ll be about leading the fight for America’s future.
