Elton John Says Trump Could Become “One of the Greatest Presidents in History” — And He’s Not Wrong

Pop legend Elton John — yes, that Elton John — just made a statement that has the political left clutching their pearls: he believes Donald J. Trump could become “one of the greatest presidents in history.” And he wasn’t joking.

In an interview with Variety, the “Rocketman” singer pointed out something simple, logical, and apparently shocking to Washington elites: if President Trump ends the AIDS epidemic, he earns a place in the history books that no spin, headline, or angry tweet could ever erase. Even Elton appreciated the rare sight of both parties supporting the cause — a reminder that bipartisan work can happen when people stop posturing for cameras and start solving real problems.

John recalled Senator Lindsey Graham calling the initiative “the best bang for your buck you could possibly get,” after leading a delegation to South Africa. Hard to disagree — unless, of course, you simply can’t bring yourself to admit Trump has actually done good things. Happens a lot these days.

Elton didn’t hold back on the bigger picture either. He noted that with today’s medical advances, AIDS is the only disease that could realistically be eliminated within our lifetime. And in typical understated British fashion, he added that Trump has “maybe solved the peace problem.” You know, small things — like historic steps toward peace in regions where past presidents only managed photo ops.

“If he ended AIDS, that would really be a feather in his cap,” John said. Honestly, that’d be more than a feather — it’d be the whole eagle.

While the singer never endorsed Trump and even declined to perform at the 2016 inauguration, he admitted he found Trump’s famous nickname for Kim Jong Un — “Little Rocket Man” — absolutely hilarious. Elton’s reaction? “I laughed. I thought that was brilliant. Good on you, Donald.” Not exactly the reaction the media wanted, but refreshing nonetheless.

Of course, in today’s climate, someone somewhere was bound to twist his words. Elton later clarified on Instagram that his comments weren’t a political endorsement — just genuine acknowledgment that Trump has always shown kindness and has long been a fan of his music. Fair enough. As he put it, he has no interest in telling people how to vote — something a few Hollywood celebrities could definitely learn from.

At the end of the day, Elton John simply spoke honestly — and honesty has a way of shining through. If Trump ends the AIDS epidemic, he won’t just secure a legacy… he’ll change history for the better. And that’s something everyone should be able to celebrate.
