President Donald Trump vowed that the men and women who kept America running during the Schumer Shutdown would be rewarded for their patriotism — and this week, he delivered in a big, very Trump way.
On Thursday, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem held a press conference at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston to announce that TSA employees who worked throughout the 43-day Democrat-made shutdown will receive a $10,000 bonus check.
“Today, we are announcing that we are going to be handing out bonus checks of $10,000 to TSOs,” Noem said. These bonuses go to Transportation Security Officers who “served with exemplary service,” took extra shifts, and continued showing up every single day despite going without pay because Democrats chose to hold the nation hostage.
Noem added that the administration would not only continue their regular paychecks, “like they should’ve received all along,” but also honor them for stepping up when the country needed them most. She then personally handed out checks — about a dozen were visible — thanking each agent individually. Imagine that: a federal government that actually appreciates its workers.
Included with the announcement was a message thanking DHS employees for their resilience throughout the Democrat-engineered crisis:
Thank you to every @DHSgov team member for your dedication and resilience throughout the Democrats' Shutdown—43 days without pay for many of you—a hardship on your families.
Your continued work and dedication to protecting our homeland are a testament to your patriotism. You made America safer during the longest shutdown in American history.
Earlier this week, Trump also called for Air Traffic Controllers to return to work and promised $10,000 bonuses to those who didn’t take time off during the shutdown. In classic Trump fashion, he praised the “GREAT PATRIOTS” who stayed on the job, and he didn’t mince words for those who chose to sit out. He made it clear he’ll reward dedication — and has no patience for those who bailed during what he called the “Democrat Shutdown Hoax.”
Trump wrote:
Air Traffic Controllers must get back to work, NOW!!! Anyone who doesn't will be substantially "docked." For those Air Traffic Controllers who were GREAT PATRIOTS, and didn't take ANY TIME OFF for the "Democrat Shutdown Hoax," I will be recommending a BONUS of $10,000 per person for distinguished service to our Country… Again, to our great American Patriots, GOD BLESS YOU - I won't be able to send your money fast enough! To all others, REPORT TO WORK IMMEDIATELY. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
This marks yet another moment where President Trump backs up his word with action. While Democrats punished Americans with their political games, Trump rewarded the people who kept the country functioning. And for once, the hardworking employees who refused to bow to the chaos got exactly what they deserved: gratitude, recognition, and a well-earned check.
