Kamala Harris Claims Gen Z Is Afraid to Have Kids Because of ‘Climate Anxiety’ Her Party Created

Kamala Harris, the woman who helped push climate alarmism for years, is now lamenting that young Americans are too anxious about the weather to even consider having children. At a recent event at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Gala, she expressed concern that Generation Z is paralyzed by what she calls “climate anxiety,” a fear that the future of the planet—thanks to the very same policies her party has championed—makes it hard to imagine a life that includes kids.

"Climate anxiety"—a term that’s become quite the buzzword in liberal circles—was at the center of her speech. Harris explained how her goddaughter, a college student, recently broke down in tears, worried about what kind of world she’ll bring children into. Of course, this isn’t just about climate change—it’s also tied to the unaffordability of homes and the general lack of opportunity that the policies of Harris’s party have helped create.

This isn’t the first time Harris has brought up the subject of "climate anxiety." Back in 2020, while speaking at a community college, she mentioned young leaders telling her about this new "climate anxiety," a term coined by those who, under the leadership of Harris and other climate alarmists, are now questioning whether it's even worth it to aspire to the American Dream.

But let’s not forget, it’s not just Harris and her goddaughter who are struggling with this so-called climate anxiety. In August, her stepdaughter took to TikTok to voice her frustration, saying she feels “disgust” by the state of the world and has experienced “a lot of climate anxiety.” The question remains: who is really to blame for this so-called "anxiety"?

Surveys show that young people are increasingly concerned about the environment. A 2023 Pew Research survey found that 55 percent of Democrats believe having fewer children is "good for the environment," a sentiment likely fueled by the unrelenting fear-mongering about climate change. Yet, despite the scare tactics, the U.S. birthrate remains at an all-time low, with people in their 20s and 30s planning to have fewer children. But let’s not forget the other factors at play.

While Harris and her fellow Democrats blame “climate anxiety,” they conveniently ignore the economic realities that are likely contributing to the decline in birth rates. Gallup data from September 2023 shows that, despite the low birthrate, Americans still prefer larger families. The ideal family size, according to Gallup, is 2.7 children—far more than the actual 1.6 births per woman. The increase in preference for larger families, especially in 2023, is largely due to economic factors like the high costs of housing, childcare, and healthcare.

It’s also important to note that different groups have differing views on family size. Men, religious Americans, Republicans, and people of color are more likely to want larger families, while liberals, Democrats, and younger Americans lean towards having fewer children. But somehow, Harris and the left want to attribute all this to “climate anxiety” instead of their own policies that have made life harder for the next generation.

So, while Kamala Harris and her party claim climate change is causing Gen Z to rethink having children, the truth is more complicated. It’s not just the weather causing anxiety—it’s the failed policies of the left that have made the American Dream seem out of reach. Maybe if they focused less on fear-mongering and more on practical solutions, Gen Z wouldn’t be so anxious about the future.
