House Majority Leader Steve Scalise is making one thing very clear: Republicans are done letting Americans drown under the ridiculous costs caused by Obamacare. On Friday, Scalise explained that House Republicans are preparing a series of healthcare bills aimed directly at lowering prices — something Democrats had plenty of chances to do but somehow never managed. Shocking.
Speaking on the Ruthless podcast, Scalise said Republicans are working across multiple committees to bring real relief to Americans. Whether it becomes one major healthcare package or a collection of targeted bills, the message is the same: lower costs, more competition, and actual transparency — the same things Obamacare somehow “forgot” to include.
Scalise explained:
“We’re bringing a number of bills to the floor in the next few weeks… I was meeting with the Doctors Caucus… Energy and Commerce has been working on a lot of really big things… Ways and Means Committee, the Education and Workforce Committee… doing things like association health plans. There’s no competition in health insurance. Really no transparency either. Imagine bringing those elements in.”
Imagine, indeed. After a decade of Obamacare, even the idea of transparency feels revolutionary.
President Donald Trump, always three steps ahead, shared a text from Sen. Rand Paul urging him to support legislation for Association Health Plans (AHPs). These plans would allow Americans to buy insurance through groups like Amazon, Sam’s Club, or Costco — you know, companies that actually understand pricing and efficiency, unlike the bureaucrats who built Obamacare’s website.
Rand Paul emphasized that AHPs could lower insurance premiums, but Democrat attorneys general fought them in court. Again… shocking.
Breitbart News highlighted a study from Avalere Health showing just how much Americans could save:
-
AHP premiums would be about $2,900 cheaper per year than small-group Obamacare plans.
-
$9,700 cheaper per year than individual-market Obamacare plans.
-
As many as 3.2 million Americans could leave Obamacare entirely.
Land O’Lakes even launched the nation’s first AHP — with plans nearly 50% cheaper than Obamacare. It’s almost as if competition works.
Scalise also confirmed that Republicans are targeting prescription drug prices, promising Americans: “We’re going to be bringing bills to the floor in the next few weeks to do exactly that.”
And of course, President Trump cut right to the heart of the issue. Instead of sending “hundreds of billions” to “money sucking Insurance Companies,” Trump wants that money to go directly to the American people — so they can choose their own doctors, their own plans, and maybe even have money left over for once.
Trump wrote:
“I am recommending… that the Hundreds of Billions… BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE…”
He continued:
“In other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate… the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare.”
It’s simple, effective, and — naturally — the exact opposite of what Democrats have been doing for years. With Republicans pushing real reforms and Trump calling for direct empowerment of the American people, the path toward affordable healthcare is finally looking a whole lot brighter.
