Zohran Mamdani — New York City’s self-described “Democratic Socialist” mayor-elect — hasn’t even taken office yet, and he’s already proving the old saying true: a cheetah doesn’t change its spots. His track record of radical, anti-American ideology is no secret, and yet Democrats are acting shocked as his true Marxist colors start to show.
Even some on the left, like former Obama official and CNN host Van Jones, are starting to question what exactly the Democratic Party has unleashed on New York. Senator John Fetterman — one of the few Democrats willing to speak honestly about his party’s fringe — recently warned, “We all know how socialism works out.” No kidding, Senator. Some of us don’t need a refresher course in economic collapse, government control, and destroyed freedoms to know where this road leads.
And yet, Mamdani’s own party in New York seems thrilled to push him further left. Reports show that the Democratic Socialists of America are already delivering their “demand list” to his desk — including a full embrace of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. That’s the same movement Mamdani has publicly supported before, and it’s just as antisemitic now as it was then.
Enter Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida — the only member of Congress born in Communist Cuba — who’s sounding the alarm. His family lived through what Marxism does when it takes root, and he’s not mincing words: “They may call themselves socialists, they may call themselves Democratic Socialists, but make no mistake — Mamdani in New York, he’s a Marxist.”
Gimenez, a former mayor of Miami-Dade, says what’s most troubling is Mamdani’s dishonesty about who he truly is. “He’s proud of who he is,” Gimenez said, “but he can’t say it — because if he told people the truth, he wouldn’t have been elected.” That right there sums up the Left’s game: hide the agenda, win the power, and then reveal the ideology. It’s the same playbook used by every Marxist movement in history.
The warning from Gimenez hits especially hard for those who escaped Communist regimes — people who recognize the rhetoric of “equity” and “justice” as the same recycled slogans used to justify tyranny. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has echoed this sentiment, saying he’s heard from Cuban exiles who say Mamdani’s words sound disturbingly familiar.
The takeaway couldn’t be clearer: Americans must stay vigilant. The far-left is trying to rebrand Marxism as “progressive democracy,” and they’re banking on the younger generation not knowing the history. But people like Carlos Gimenez do know — because they’ve lived it.
Marxists don’t stop until they’ve taken everything — your business, your freedom, your faith, and your country. The difference is, this time, they’re not storming palaces. They’re running for office and smiling for the cameras.
And if we don’t call it out now, we may find ourselves wondering, too late, how the greatest nation on Earth fell for the oldest lie in the book.
