Minnesota’s Democrat Governor Tim Walz has ignited a firestorm of conservative outrage after bizarrely defending his board's pardon of a convicted child rapist, an individual previously deported by the Trump administration. The move, seen by many as a shocking betrayal of common sense and public safety, has drawn sharp rebuke from prominent conservative voices across the nation.
The controversy surged into the national spotlight when former Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality TV star Spencer Pratt minced no words in a widely praised post on X. Pratt’s direct challenge to the governor's judgment resonated deeply with those appalled by Walz’s actions.
"If you find yourself defending a child molester, saying: ‘WE can’t be judged by OUR worst day’, you probably need to have your hard drives checked," Pratt declared on X, delivering a sharp, memorable jab at the Democrat's distorted priorities.
Pratt was directly responding to a clip showing Walz attempting to rationalize the pardon, absurdly claiming that the deportation of the convicted child rapist did not make the U.S. safer. Walz questioned, "Did that make us any safer? Did that make the children that are left behind any more stable? Did it improve the idea that we can’t all be judged by our worst day?"
This shocking defense comes after the Minnesota Board of Pardons, comprised of Governor Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison, and state Chief Justice Natalie Hudson, granted clemency to Laotian national Tou Lue Vang, 42. Vang was convicted for repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl between 2002 and 2004. Appallingly, Vang reportedly told authorities after his arrest that "it is a cultural thing... to marry and have sex with girls as young as 12."
Crucially, Vang was scheduled for deportation before Walz's board intervened. It was the America First Trump administration that had previously ensured Vang's removal from the country, a clear demonstration of effective immigration enforcement and a commitment to public safety that Walz’s actions have now recklessly undermined.
The backlash against Walz was swift and unforgiving. Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, representing Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District, echoed Pratt’s sentiment, posting on X: "I couldn’t agree more, @spencerpratt. Tim Walz has ZERO morals. He is disgrace to Minnesota!"
