It's jarring to hear the same Green New Deal architect who once questioned if a climate crisis meant it was “OK to still have children” now announcing her own family plans. But even more telling is the way she chose to do it: broadcasting deeply personal details to an online audience, injecting political theater into private matters.
“I want you all to see that. And because women can do anything, and I think it’s bad-ss that I’m going to be giving myself shots in the green room [as I] get my glam on,” AOC declared. She then added, with characteristic self-absorption, “This is just not something that men deal with.” What she conveniently omits is that it’s not something she has to “deal with” either, given her choice to delay the natural path.
AOC frames this expensive, physically painful process of egg cryopreservation as a means to “feel more in control of my life.” Yet, this is precisely the dangerous illusion peddled by an industry thriving on the falsehoods of fourth-wave feminism. If she genuinely desires children, the common-sense path is clear: marry and try to conceive naturally. Studies consistently show that having a husband and children doubles a woman’s likelihood of being happy. Instead, she remains indefinitely engaged, delaying her potential motherhood to pursue a career in the House of Representatives, and perhaps even a presidential run.
