Bowser Extends Trump’s Federal Crime-Fighting Success in D.C.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) just made a surprising move: she signed an executive order directing the city’s police to keep working with federal law enforcement indefinitely. Yes, you read that right—a Democrat mayor essentially admitting that President Donald Trump’s law-and-order approach works. Who would’ve thought?

Bowser’s order continues the work of the Safe and Beautiful Emergency Operations Center, a task force established by Trump after he invoked Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act in early August. That move placed the Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control and activated the National Guard. And what happened next? Violent crime in the nation’s capital dropped by 22 percent in just one week. Funny how actual enforcement of the law produces actual results.

The order ensures coordination with agencies like the U.S. Marshals, FBI, DEA, ATF, Park Police, Secret Service, and more—basically, the federal government’s best crime-fighting muscle. Bowser even admitted the obvious: “because there has been a reduction in crime, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer.” Translation: Trump was right, and the city is finally benefiting from real leadership.

Of course, Bowser tried to sprinkle in a little Democrat spin, saying the city would ask federal officers not to wear masks and to show ID during encounters to “maintain community confidence.” Sure, because the real crisis in D.C. isn’t shootings and carjackings, it’s masked officers. Priorities, right?

Still, here’s the bottom line: Trump’s decisive action forced even a Democrat mayor to acknowledge that flooding the streets with law enforcement saves lives. And now, by extending that cooperation indefinitely, Bowser has given residents what they deserve—safer streets. Credit where credit’s due: President Trump lit the spark, and now even his opponents are carrying the torch. That’s the power of strong, results-driven leadership.
