U.S. Central Command announced Sunday the recovery of unidentified remains at the site of an Iranian attack in Jordan, while separately confirming the death of another American service member in Iraq.

“Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the passing of two U.S. service members and the missing status of one in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17,” CENTCOM stated.

“After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing.”

In a separate incident, CENTCOM reported that a U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action on July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member was wounded and is receiving treatment for a minor injury.

The command is withholding the identities of the fallen and missing warriors out of respect for their families during the notification process.

These tragic losses come amid the ongoing U.S. military campaign against Iran, now in its eighth consecutive night of strikes. Iranian attacks on U.S. positions and forces have escalated tensions across the region as the Trump administration continues operations to protect American troops and maintain freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces remain highly vigilant and ready to respond to any further aggression by the Iranian regime or its proxies. 

The deaths serve as a somber reminder of the real human cost of Iran’s continued provocations against the United States and its allies.
