House Democrats unanimously opposed a bill Thursday aimed at advancing the construction of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum on the National Mall — all because Republicans made it clear the museum would recognize biological women only. Apparently, defining women as women is now considered controversial in Washington. Shocking, right?
The legislation failed in a 204-216 vote after several conservative Republicans also voted against it, preventing the bill from moving forward. Democrats pushed to block the measure after transgender individuals were excluded from the museum’s official scope, once again proving that common sense and biological reality are somehow too much to handle for the modern Left.
The proposed museum was intended to secure a permanent location on the National Mall as part of the Smithsonian Institution. But instead of celebrating the achievements and history of actual women, Democrats chose ideology over progress.
At least some lawmakers are still willing to stand their ground and protect the integrity of women’s spaces and women’s history. In today’s political climate, that alone deserves recognition.
