DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin Cows Aggressive Crackdown on Voter Fraud

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin pledged Friday to aggressively pursue voter fraud, putting election officials across the country on notice that they will be held accountable if they fail to clean up voter rolls and prevent noncitizens from voting.

Following President Trump’s national address the night before, Mullin sent formal letters to the secretaries of state in California, New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, warning them that DHS has identified more than 250,000 potential non-citizens illegally registered to vote in just those four states.

Mullin made clear that states refusing to cooperate with the Trump administration’s election security efforts — including running their voter rolls through the federal SAVE database — will face consequences, including potential criminal charges, fines, and the withholding of federal election security grants.

“Election security is national security,” Mullin stated. “Only Americans should be electing American leaders.”

The Secretary emphasized that the Department of Homeland Security will make these security enhancements effectively mandatory for states and will prioritize investigations into jurisdictions that resist compliance. He also announced that DHS will review voter records one by one to determine if any non-citizens actually cast ballots.

This aggressive stance aligns with the administration’s push for the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register and photo ID to vote in federal elections. Mullin’s comments come amid growing concerns over noncitizen voting and vulnerabilities exposed in previous election cycles.

The Trump administration is making it clear: protecting the integrity of American elections is a top priority, and those who stand in the way will be held responsible.
