The Department of Justice revealed Thursday that the coordinated effort, carried out by the U.S. Marshals Service and members of the federal Operation Patriot Shield task force, targeted dangerous fugitives across southern Illinois and eastern Missouri.
Since June 1, the operation has resulted in 224 arrests while clearing 290 felony arrest warrants, according to the DOJ. Beyond taking wanted suspects off the streets, investigators also located and safely recovered three missing children—an outcome that stands among the operation's most meaningful successes.
