The U.S. State Department issued a worldwide caution on Saturday, warning American citizens of heightened risks due to escalating tensions in the Middle East and the potential for further conflict with Iran.

The advisory urges all Americans — particularly those in the Middle East — to exercise increased caution, closely monitor local developments, and follow security alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Officials highlighted the possibility of sudden flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and other travel disruptions as the situation continues to deteriorate.

The State Department also warned that U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have been targeted by Iran-aligned groups. Americans abroad were cautioned that pro-Iranian elements could strike U.S. interests or locations associated with American citizens anywhere in the world.

Travelers were strongly encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive real-time security updates and to carefully review current travel advisories before any international trip.

The worldwide caution comes as the U.S. continues its seventh consecutive night of strikes on Iran and maintains a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. The heightened alert reflects growing concern over Iran’s ability to activate proxy networks and conduct asymmetric attacks beyond the immediate region. 

Americans currently overseas are advised to remain vigilant and have contingency plans in place.
