Florida Democrat Angie Nixon Smears ICE as 'Thugs' and 'Kidnappers' While Agency Nabs Violent Criminals Across the State

A radical Florida Democrat Senate candidate, Angie Nixon, has launched an astonishingly vitriolic assault on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), labeling its dedicated officers as "THUGS" and "kidnappers" and likening vital immigration detention facilities to "modern day concentration camps." Her disturbing rhetoric comes as ICE continues its crucial mission, protecting Floridians from some of the most dangerous criminal illegal aliens.

Nixon, a Florida state representative and proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has made the outright abolition of ICE a centerpiece of her extreme immigration platform. She has repeatedly called for the dismantling of an agency she claims "terrorizes our neighborhoods, acts like a rogue paramilitary force, and operates completely in the dark." For Nixon, abolishing ICE is simply a "moral choice."

Her attacks don't stop there. Nixon has described ICE enforcement as "state-sanctioned violence" and characterized the agency as a "weaponized paramilitary force that is designed to terrorize." In a shocking display of disregard for law enforcement, she has even insinuated that ICE agents could be shot in Florida’s "stand your ground" state. "I am concerned that some ICE officials might be shot," she declared, a statement that borders on incitement against federal officers.

Further escalating her dangerous rhetoric, Nixon has claimed ICE officers would "racially profile" and "shoot and kill" black Americans without consequence, asserting, "We’re black. They gonna profile us, too. They can’t tell the difference between a black American that is a descendant of slaves here in this country or someone from Jamaica or Nigeria. They are going to racially profile us and they are going to escalate things and they are going to shoot and kill us." She then demanded that if elected, she would launch investigations to "go after bad actors. To arrest them and to put them in jail and to call for an end and an abolishment of ICE."

Adding to her list of radical pronouncements, Nixon bizarrely suggested that Republicans are "literally trying to kill us" when discussing ICE enforcement. "They are literally trying to kill us, and they are doing it on camera," she stated, completely untethered from reality.

This extreme anti-law enforcement stance has rightly drawn sharp condemnation. RNC spokeswoman Emma Hall minced no words, stating, "Socialist nut job Angie Nixon thinks the men and women arresting murderers, child predators, drug dealers, and violent criminal illegal aliens are 'kidnappers' and 'thugs' that remind her of 'concentration camps.' Floridians deserve safety – but Nixon wants to abolish ICE, let violent criminals roam free, then give millions mass amnesty."

Hall’s powerful statement underscores the grave risks of Nixon’s proposed policies. While Nixon demonizes ICE, the agency is actively protecting Floridians from some of the "worst of the worst" criminal illegal aliens — individuals who, under Nixon's agenda, would potentially be allowed to roam free or receive amnesty. Just a glimpse at recent arrests in Florida exposes the profound danger of weakening ICE:

  • On August 19, ICE lodged a detainer against Shaquiel Sheldon Williams, an illegal alien from Jamaica, charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after authorities say he stabbed two Burger King employees in Panama City Beach for refusing to pay for food.
  • Antonio Cordova-Sajic, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was convicted of lewd or lascivious conduct in Fort Myers.
  • Victor Hugo Casillo-Vallejo, an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, was convicted in Tampa of robbery with a firearm and aiding and abetting related to a Hobbs Act robbery and firearm use.
  • Edy Jose Rivas-Rizo, an illegal alien from Nicaragua, stands accused of fatally stabbing his roommate in a brutal incident captured on surveillance footage.
  • Carlos Suarez Contreras, an illegal alien from Venezuela, faces charges in connection with a fatal vehicle incident in Panama City Beach, where he allegedly struck an 82-year-old grandmother while driving without a valid license.
  • Other cases highlighted by DHS include Wilmark Orozco-Huerta, an illegal alien from Mexico, convicted in Polk County of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and DUI with serious bodily injury.
  • Julio Rudolfo Roldan-Hernandez, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was convicted in Tampa of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
  • Deangelo Byer, an illegal alien from the Bahamas, was convicted of aggravated battery in Groveland.
  • Abel Alejandro Perez-Beltran, an illegal alien from Cuba, was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Lee County.
  • Lionel Boursiquot, an illegal alien from Haiti, arrested in Doral, whose criminal history includes homicide, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
  • Roberto Suarez-Friot, an illegal alien from Cuba, convicted in Tampa of aggravated battery, resisting an officer, criminal mischief, and aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.
  • Yeilan Oliver-Roque, an illegal alien from Cuba, convicted in Miami of sexual battery with a deadly weapon causing serious injury.
  • Hermelindo Sanchez-Atempa, an illegal alien from Mexico, convicted in Polk County of seven counts of methamphetamine possession, as well as battery of a firefighter or EMT, resisting an officer with violence, assault, disorderly intoxication, indecent exposure, and possession of cocaine.

These are not just statistics; they are real threats to communities that ICE officers work tirelessly to neutralize. Angie Nixon’s radical agenda to abolish ICE and label its agents as criminals is a direct assault on law and order, a betrayal of public safety, and a dangerous embrace of open borders ideology that would leave Floridians vulnerable to violent illegal criminals. The America First movement stands firm with the brave men and women of ICE, recognizing their indispensable role in securing our nation and protecting its citizens from those who seek to harm us.
