Well, well, well — it looks like karma finally clocked in for Virginia Democrats. The latest Trafalgar poll just dropped, and it confirms exactly what everyone with a functioning moral compass already suspected: the Jay Jones scandal is wrecking the Democrats’ chances across the board.
After Jones — the Democrat nominee for attorney general — was caught in a vile texting scandal fantasizing about murdering Republicans and their children, the political fallout is hitting like a freight train. And now, it’s not just the attorney general’s race that’s taking a beating — the governor and lieutenant governor races are tightening fast, too.
Let’s rewind for a second. Just five days after Jones’ disgusting texts were exposed, his campaign released an “internal poll” showing him ahead by a whopping one point. That’s what campaigns usually do when they’re panicking — release their own numbers to make it look like they’re still alive. But as we all know, internal polls almost always lean favorable. Translation: Jones was already losing.
Now the independent Trafalgar numbers confirm it — Republican Jason Miyares has surged ahead. The data, collected October 8–10, shows a clear shift in voter sentiment since the scandal broke.
And that’s not all. The gubernatorial race and the lieutenant governor race are tightening too. Looks like the Democratic meltdown is contagious. Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) had a strong debate performance, while her Democrat opponent, Abigail Spanberger, fumbled badly — the kind of “bad night” you don’t recover from in a tight race.
As both Miyares and Earle-Sears have pointed out, these elections are no longer just about policy — they’re about character. And frankly, that’s not a battlefield Democrats want to fight on right now. When one of your top statewide candidates is exposed for fantasizing about executing his political enemies, you lose the moral high ground — permanently.
And Spanberger? She still hasn’t distanced herself from Jones. Not a word of outrage, not an ounce of empathy. Just silence. Apparently, it’s easier to ignore the question than to admit your party has a problem with extremists in its own ranks.
Virginia Democrats are trying to ride this storm out, clinging to their usual Democrat privilege — assuming voters will forget the scandals, overlook the corruption, and just show up blue on Election Day. But voters are watching. They remember what happened in 2021, when Virginians rose up and flipped the script.
And guess what? It’s happening again.
Early voting is only halfway through, which means there’s still plenty of time for voters to send a loud, clear message: enough of the hate, enough of the hypocrisy, and enough of the morally bankrupt political elite who think they’re untouchable.
Virginia’s red wave is building — and Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.
Let’s go! ??
