Ah, New York City — the place where criminals roam free, taxes are through the roof, and now, apparently, mayoral candidates are fantasizing about arresting world leaders.
Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist running for mayor of NYC (because of course he is), said during an interview that the city should honor the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he ever visits. Yes, you read that right — this guy wants to use the NYPD to arrest the leader of Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East.
Mamdani told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum that New York “believes in international law” and should “uphold” the ICC’s warrant. Now, before you start scratching your head — the United States doesn’t even recognize the International Criminal Court. That little detail didn’t seem to bother him, though.
When MacCallum reminded Mamdani that the U.S. isn’t a signatory to the ICC, he simply doubled down: “The Criminal Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu, as it has for Vladimir Putin,” he said, adding that the city should “uphold arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court.” Translation: he wants New York cops arresting world leaders based on foreign courts the U.S. doesn’t answer to. Sounds like a plan.
When pressed on whether NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch would actually allow him to arrest Netanyahu, Mamdani dodged the question not once, but twice — though he did assure viewers that he’d “exhaust every legal option.” Because nothing says “leadership” like threatening to handcuff a foreign head of state while dancing around the law.
Let’s pause here: this man wants to run the largest city in America, yet he doesn’t seem to understand how American law actually works. He’s ready to obey an international court the U.S. never agreed to — but probably wouldn’t dare enforce our own immigration laws.
And when asked if he’d give President Donald Trump credit for helping secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas last week, Mamdani couldn’t even bring himself to say a single good word. “It’s too early to say,” he shrugged. Sure — heaven forbid a socialist acknowledge that Trump actually got something right.
Mamdani also refused to answer whether Hamas should lay down its arms, saying he didn’t “really have opinions” beyond vague talk about “justice” and “international law.” Apparently, condemning a terrorist organization is just too complicated for him.
Tomorrow night, Mamdani will face off against Democrat Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in the first major debate of the campaign. It’ll be interesting to see how far “arrest Netanyahu” and “praise international law” get him with actual New Yorkers who just want their city safe, clean, and functioning.
Because at the end of the day, Americans — especially New Yorkers — deserve a mayor who stands up for law, order, and the nation’s allies, not one who wants to score political points by siding with international bureaucrats.
