While President Trump continues to deliver on his promise of securing America's borders and removing those who have entered our nation illegally, some within his own party appear to be losing their resolve. Republican Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27) recently launched a misguided attack on President Trump’s resolute immigration agenda, only to face an immediate and unequivocal rebuttal from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Since returning to office, President Trump has been full steam ahead on enforcing immigration laws, a clear mandate from the American people. This commitment stands in stark contrast to Rep. Salazar, whose Miami-area constituency, heavily Hispanic, has led her to champion legislation that would effectively allow millions of illegal aliens to remain in the U.S.

Salazar's campaign ad, a surprising intra-party broadside, criticizes the President, claiming his immigration efforts have "gone too far." Her commercial prominently features the supposed grievance that some detained individuals have "no criminal record"—a stunning omission of the fundamental truth that being in America illegally is, by its very nature, a crime. The law is clear, yet some in Washington seem determined to ignore it.

The congresswoman’s ad speaks of "giving [illegal aliens] a dignified life in this promised land," while simultaneously, and quite curiously, insisting this is "not amnesty." To lend weight to her argument, the ad displays the White House and makes ill-fitting references to Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, seemingly in an attempt to shame a President who is merely upholding the rule of law.

Salazar’s ad premiered on Thursday morning, and by Thursday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security delivered a crushing response that left no room for doubt or compromise. The message from DHS was crystal clear: No amnesty for illegal aliens, now or ever. That part should not be complicated.

SCRIPT: Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far.

In July, 50 percent of the 50,000 people who were detained had no criminal record.

Be careful what your advisers are telling you about immigration policy. The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today.

You can be for immigration like Lincoln was for slavery and Reagan was for communism.
