Just when you thought Democrat campaign cycles couldn't get any more absurd, Minnesota’s freshly minted Democrat Senate primary winner, Peggy Flanagan, has delivered a masterclass in self-inflicted political wounds. The hilarity started almost immediately after her victory, proving that when the Left tries to play the identity card, it often ends up collapsing on itself.
Flanagan, currently Lieutenant Governor under Tim Walz, is a known quantity for those who follow Minnesota politics – and none of it inspires confidence. Depending on the day, she might be seen sporting a t-shirt condoning violence or donning a hijab to signal solidarity with the Somali Muslim community. In short, her political theatrics often venture into the realm of the truly bizarre.
Adding another layer to her public persona, Flanagan, while partly Irish, also touts her Native American heritage. And she wants everyone to know it. Her campaign website prominently features this claim:
Born into an Indigenous and Irish family, Peggy is Ojibwe and a member of the White Earth Nation. Her Anishinaabe name means “speaks in a loud and clear voice woman.” She has spent her career using her voice with a loud and clear focus on making life better for Minnesotans.
We'll take her word for it, though the Left's history with such claims should always prompt skepticism.
Eager to kickstart her general election fundraising efforts against Republican challenger Michele Tafoya, Flanagan's campaign sent out an email via the Democratic National Committee (DNC) that inadvertently exposed one of the Left's most infamous identity fabrications. The headline of the email? It will make you do a double-take:
In almost 250 years, there’s never been a Native woman serving in the US Senate.
Wait a minute, you might be thinking. What about Elizabeth "Fauxcahontas" Warren? She's been in the Senate for years, proudly claiming her Native American ancestry – however dubious those claims have been. This is where the story gets even richer.
The accidental torpedoing of Warren's carefully constructed narrative is just too perfect. What makes it even more delicious is the fact that Elizabeth Warren herself endorsed Peggy Flanagan. One can only imagine the uncomfortable silence in Warren's camp when this email went out.
When news of the email hit social media, the official Republican X account delivered the perfect jab: "Has anybody checked on Elizabeth Warren?" Indeed.

I am the descendant of people who were forced off their land onto the White Earth reservation. I am the relative of residential boarding school survivors. I am the daughter of a man who always spoke truth to power for the good of the Anishinaabe people.
I’m thinking of my daughter — who just got her first jingle dress — and whether or not she will see Indigenous women in all parts of our government.
Right now, there are no Native voices in the US Senate. If I win this race, we can change that.
The email then transitioned into an appeal for money, which Flanagan will reportedly split with the DNC. This exact same message, word-for-word, was previously featured in a video appeal Flanagan released in July during the primary.
Flanagan is clearly committed to beating this particular drum all the way through November. And hilariously, the one taking the biggest beating, albeit figuratively, will be Senator Elizabeth Warren. It seems the Left's obsession with identity politics is so convoluted, they can't even keep their own stories straight, providing a clear example of the hypocrisy and absurdity that Americans are increasingly rejecting in favor of common sense and genuine leadership.
