Former West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, long seen as one of the last vestiges of moderation within the Democratic Party, has delivered a scathing indictment of the radical socialist movement now openly embraced by many of his former colleagues. Manchin warned forcefully against the "crazy" platforms he believes are threatening the very fabric of American society and core values.

Speaking on CBS's "Face the Nation," Manchin left no room for ambiguity when asked if he would ever support a socialist candidate. "No way," he declared unequivocally. "My God, no." When pressed by host Margaret Brennan on whether even "good ideas" from socialists could sway him, Manchin shot back, "I support the good ideas. But how could you support some of the crazy stuff they're for?"

Manchin didn't mince words, detailing the alarming proposals emanating from the far-left. "Have you seen their platform?" he asked, incredulous. "They're for dismantling everything that we know, whether it be the structure of government, Congress itself, or the Senate they want to get rid of." He continued, painting a stark picture: "And then they start talking about all the crazy things, no police, no this, no this, no that. Are you crazy?"

The former senator underscored the fundamental pillars that socialists seem eager to tear down. "We want a crime-free area. We have to have police for that," Manchin asserted, championing law and order. "Yeah. We want a strong defense, we want a strong border." He lamented the ideological capture, adding, "But if Democrats can't say that, and they start lining up with the socialist demands of what you are to be a socialist, energy will be gone. There'll be no energy, OK? We have right now a tremendous amount of energy we're producing, and the world depends more on us than ever before."

Manchin's daughter, Heather Manchin, who joined him on the program, echoed her father's concerns, specifically highlighting a concerning shift within the Democratic Party leadership. She expressed dismay that the party apparatus seems unwilling to challenge or reject these extreme far-left and socialist demands. "Control has now completely outweighed character," she observed pointedly. "If you're more interested in control, and that's all that matters, your vote count, versus the character of the person and the platform they're running on, I think we're living with the consequences of that."

These sharp warnings from a former Democratic heavyweight come as openly socialist candidates have not just run, but won, numerous Democratic primary elections across the country. Figures backed by organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are gaining alarming prominence and popularity within the party, forcing a once-mainstream political force further into the fringe.

The ideological slide is not merely anecdotal. A July Fox News poll revealed a startling trend: a majority of Democrats (52%) now hold a favorable opinion of socialism, outstripping those who favor capitalism (41%). Among registered voters overall, a concerning 30% view socialism favorably, marking an increase from the previous year.

Manchin's outspoken criticism serves as a dire warning for a Democratic Party increasingly veering towards radical ideologies that openly threaten American institutions, national security, and economic stability. His refusal to back such "crazy" positions highlights the growing chasm between common sense and the extreme policies pushed by the left, a chasm that patriotic Americans will undoubtedly confront in the battles ahead for the soul of the nation.
