Sen. Blackburn Demands Secret Service Be ‘Cleaned Up’ After Security Failures Involving Trump

Sen. Marsha Blackburn is calling for major changes inside the Secret Service after raising serious concerns about repeated security failures involving President Donald Trump and other individuals under federal protection.

Appearing on Newsmax’s “National Report” Wednesday, the Tennessee Republican questioned the agency’s training standards, preparedness, and internal culture following what she described as a third assassination attempt connected to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

“I think what we have learned is that they have been incomplete in some of their assessments for how they protect not only President Trump and his family, but the other protectees,” Blackburn said.

The senator specifically pointed to alarming questions surrounding security procedures at the high-profile Washington event, including how an unauthorized individual allegedly managed to access a restricted area inside the hotel.

“If you take the situation, the third assassination attempt there at the White House Correspondents Dinner, you have to ask the questions,” Blackburn stated. “Why was the stairwell not locked off? How was anybody who was not a guest at that dinner able to get into that area of the hotel?”

Those are questions Americans are asking too — because protecting a former president and leading political figures should not resemble a badly managed airport security line.

Blackburn also questioned whether Secret Service personnel properly monitored surveillance footage before taking control of the venue and setting up magnetometers.

“Why were they not viewing surveillance video to see who was in that area before the Secret Service took control?” she asked.

Beyond the specific incident, Blackburn warned that the problems may point to broader issues inside the agency, including concerns about political bias and insufficient training among agents responsible for protecting national leaders.

“And if we have people that are bringing their political views to work, if we have people that are incomplete or are not properly trained, then we need to deal with that,” Blackburn said.

The senator emphasized that every protectee deserves the agency’s “complete attention” and full professionalism. As concerns continue growing over presidential security, many Americans are demanding accountability and stronger standards from the agencies tasked with protecting the nation’s leaders. Strong leadership, discipline, and competence are not optional when national security is involved.
