Meet Marco Antonio Aguayo — 22 years old, Anaheim resident, and apparently under the impression that threatening mass murder is just edgy comedy. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday by the federal government, Aguayo is accused of posting explicit threats against Vice President JD Vance and his family during their visit to Disneyland last summer. The posts allegedly claimed pipe bombs had been planted around the park ahead of the Vance family’s arrival — because nothing says “joke” like threatening families at a theme park.
One of the messages reportedly read: “Good luck finding all of them on time there will be bloodshed tonight and we will bathe in the blood of corrupt politicians.” These threats were allegedly posted directly on Disneyland’s Instagram account. Very subtle. Very sane.
Law enforcement — including local authorities and a U.S. Secret Service agent — paid Aguayo a visit on July 12, 2025. At first, he went with the timeless classic defense: “My account was hacked.” When that didn’t stick, he admitted he made the posts but claimed he meant to delete them and simply forgot. Yes, three violent threats… slipped his mind. Happens to everyone, right?
According to the complaint, Aguayo later said the posts were “just a joke” meant to provoke attention and laughter. Which is interesting, considering jokes usually don’t involve pipe bombs, bloodshed, or threats against the vice president’s family. Comedy has really fallen on hard times.
The Secret Service agent investigating the threats traced the Instagram account through an associated email address. Google subscriber records led directly to Aguayo, along with two phone numbers. Aguayo consented to a search of his phone, which ultimately led to the charges now filed against him. That’s what professionals call a paper trail.
The good news? The system worked. Threats against public officials and their families — especially ones involving children and public spaces — are being taken seriously, exactly as they should be. Accountability still exists, consequences still matter, and Americans can be reassured that this kind of deranged behavior doesn’t get a free pass anymore.
