Socialist Surge: Radical Left Eyes Ocasio-Cortez for 2028 White House Bid as Democrat Establishment Reels

The radical wing of the Democrat Party is making its intentions for 2028 crystal clear, setting its sights on the highest office in the land and a familiar face to lead the charge. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a group notorious for pushing policies far outside the American mainstream, has openly declared its enthusiasm for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to run for President.

NYC DSA co-chair pushes AOC for president in 2028

This isn't mere speculation; it's a direct signal from the DSA's front lines. Gustavo Gordillo, co-chair of the New York City chapter of the DSA, told MS NOW that his organization would be "thrilled" if Ocasio-Cortez decided to launch a White House bid in four years. This comes amidst a series of primary victories for DSA-backed candidates, effectively sidelining established Democrat incumbents and further shifting the party's gravitational pull towards the extreme left.

Gordillo's comments were prompted by the recent success of socialist challengers in Democrat primaries, including the stunning upset of 13-term Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado by 29-year-old DSA-backed Melat Kiros. In New York, Darializa Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old progressive community organizer, ousted incumbent Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat, and Claire Valdez, another DSA-aligned contender, secured a congressional primary victory. These aren't just new faces; they represent a fundamental, ideological takeover.

When asked if the DSA was already strategizing for 2028, Gordillo was candid, stating, "I think that we will be trying to influence the next presidential primary. And it’s still too soon to say how...to say who." He quickly followed up, however, with the telling remark: "You know, I think that many in the organization would be very thrilled if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ended up running, but ultimately that’s her decision, and we’ll be in conversation."

Ocasio-Cortez, for her part, has played coy about a potential presidential run, offering a noncommittal, "Could I be president? Could I not be president? Maybe, maybe not." Yet, her actions speak louder than her carefully worded deflections. She has actively championed these radical primary challengers, even those with deeply concerning views, urging her incumbent colleagues to embrace the very forces poised to displace them.

Consider Darializa Avila Chevalier, one of Ocasio-Cortez's endorsed candidates, who infamously called the United States "a f---ing disgrace." While any American concerned with patriotism and national pride would immediately condemn such rhetoric, Ocasio-Cortez offered advice to her party colleagues: "I actually think the more important advice that I would give would be to my incumbent colleagues — which is you will create a self-fulfilling prophecy by deciding who these young women are before you’ve met them." Apparently, a clear anti-American sentiment is no disqualifier for the new Democrat standard-bearer.

This isn't merely about individual candidacies; it's about the soul of the Democratic Party and, by extension, the direction of our nation. The DSA's open embrace of Ocasio-Cortez for the White House signals an accelerating push toward a socialist agenda that undermines American values, economic freedom, and national sovereignty. As these radical elements consolidate power within the Democrat ranks, the stakes for 2028 — and the fight to preserve America First principles — become exponentially higher.
