Speaker Johnson Sounds Alarm: "Barbarians Are Inside The Gate" As Radical Left Pushes America Toward Communism

House Speaker Mike Johnson delivered a stark warning Saturday, signaling that the radical left’s relentless push for socialism is far more than a policy debate—it's an existential threat driving America toward communism. Appearing on FNC’s “Saturday in America,” Johnson told host Kayleigh McEnany that the rise of “insurgent candidates” winning Democrat primaries across the nation is a chilling sign that the “barbarians” are, indeed, “inside the gate.”

The conversation quickly zeroed in on the ultimate destination of such policies. McEnany referenced John Morgan’s prescient observation that “socialism is the gateway to communism.” She then posed the critical question: “We are talking about communism here. That’s not hyperbole, am I correct?”

Johnson didn't mince words, confirming, “Well, that’s right. And of course, it’s Marxism, right. So Karl Marx believed and he taught and said, socialism is a step toward communism. It’s a process.” He underscored the fundamental clash with American principles, explaining, “Communism is anti-American. It’s the opposite of our ideals. We’re one nation under God. Communism begins with a premise that there is no God. The state is the god effectively.”

History offers a brutal ledger for this ideology. Johnson cited a century of catastrophic failures, from Soviet Russia in 1918 to Communist China, India, Venezuela, and the Eastern Bloc. “It never works and it ends in poverty, destruction, political violence, human suffering,” the Speaker stated unequivocally. “That is the story of communism.”

The Speaker cautioned against the deceptive allure of the left's promises. “When you go out on the campaign trail and you promise free stuff to people, young people, that’s a siren song to them. That sounds great to them. No one is telling them they have to give up their freedom in exchange.” This, he warned, is the subtle but insidious trade-off the radical left demands from an unsuspecting public.

The stakes for the upcoming election, Johnson emphasized, could not be higher. “This election really does draw a contrast in a sharp way for the American people.” He lamented the unthinkable reality that America finds itself in, a reality few would have predicted even a decade ago. “If somebody had told us 10 years ago, Kayleigh, that on the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation in history of the world we would be debating whether or not we would maintain the constitutional republic or go down this dark, dangerous, deadly road to communism, you and I would have argued with them and said that’s not possible.”

Yet, that is precisely where America stands. The Speaker’s urgent warning resonates: “These insurgent left candidates are winning the Democrat primaries all across the country. The barbarians are inside the gate. It’s very, very serious stuff.” The path forward demands vigilance and a fierce defense of the principles of freedom, individual liberty, and faith that define America, rejecting the socialist siren song before it leads to the abyss of communism.
