The message is clear, if you accept any portion of an annual $100 billion taxpayer program, you must follow the rules or face the consequences." Rollins emphasized the administration's commitment to fiscal responsibility, adding, "We owe it to every American taxpayer to safeguard their hard-earned dollars, and these latest enforcement actions are just a small part of the Food and Nutrition Administration’s efforts to remove criminals and bad actors from food stamps."

The scope of "Operation SNAP Back" in New York City is significant, with USDA investigators descending upon all five boroughs. Hundreds of undercover operations exposed stores trafficking SNAP benefits for cash and illegally accepting benefits for alcohol and other ineligible items. The result: 170 retailers now face enforcement action, with several cases referred for criminal investigation and prosecution.

This initiative protects two crucial groups: the families who genuinely rely on SNAP to put food on the table, and the hardworking taxpayers who fund the program. Since the start of the Trump Administration, the record is clear:

Over half a billion dollars in SNAP benefits flowed into restaurants through this loophole in just two years. California, under Governor Newsom's leadership, leads the pack with an astonishing $475 million wasted, followed by Arizona ($41.4 million) and New York ($3.6 million). In response to this egregious waste, Republican Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) introduced a bill to terminate the RMP before the House recessed for the November midterm elections. Rep. His Ending Restaurant Purchases with SNAP Act would preserve meal provisions for disabled and elderly Americans through public and nonprofit groups, but would end the broader program that fuels this fraud.
