Since President Trump returned to office for his second term, a central hallmark of his new administration has been the relentless cleanup of the disastrous mess left at our southern border by the previous administration. Former President Biden's open-door policies allowed millions of illegal aliens to stream across the border, and federal law enforcement has been diligently rectifying that catastrophic failure, starting with the most violent offenders.
The Trump administration's determined efforts to rid American communities of illegal aliens have already yielded significant results. Just look at the latest numbers: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have shattered records, with arrests skyrocketing.
The repatriation of illegal aliens from the United States to wherever they came from is still ongoing, and it seems to be picking up. In July, reports indicate that Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests broke all previous records: 51,000.
This is a clear sign that things are finally moving in the right direction, putting America First.
Now, an intriguing story has emerged, shedding light on a new tactic for those illegal aliens taken into ICE custody and deported from the United States. The headline isn't just that they're being deported; it's where these illegals – specifically Mexican nationals – are now ending up that is clearly causing considerable heartburn for left-leaning journalists and the open-border crowd.
Apparently, in a move designed to powerfully deter future attempts at illegal border crossings, Mexican illegals are not being flown directly home. Instead, they are being strategically redirected to nations like Guatemala and Honduras. Oh, the sheer horror for those who prefer an endless revolving door at our border.
As CBS News grudgingly reported:
The Trump administration has been quietly deporting migrants from Mexico to different countries in Central America despite the Mexican government's willingness to accept the return of all its citizens, two Department of Homeland Security officials told CBS News.
These "anywhere-but-Mexico" deportations have been underway for months, according to two unnamed administration officials. And just as you might expect from a nation that actively facilitates illegal entry into our country, Mexico is absolutely furious about it.
Mexico's Foreign Ministry, ever predictable, issued a statement decrying the move: "The Government of Mexico accepts the return of all its nationals. It therefore rejects the deportation of Mexican nationals to third countries and has no such agreement in place. Mexico consistently takes the steps necessary to ensure the safe and dignified return of all its nationals to national territory."
It's worth remembering, of course, that Mexico has historically provided its citizens with a handy guide on how to enter the U.S. illegally and then exploit our welfare and education systems. They don't truly want their citizens back; they just want to complain loudly when President Trump implements a strategy that finally puts American interests first.
While Trump administration officials have yet to comment publicly on this specific report, it's widely known that they've secured agreements with other nations to accept third-country deportees.
Guatemala, for instance, proactively agreed early in Trump's second term to accept not only its own citizens deported from the United States but also illegal aliens from other nations. This isn't rocket science: those who choose to violate our laws and illegally cross our border are now, quite rightly, playing a high-stakes roulette game on where their deportation flight will land.
Adam Isacson of the predictably left-leaning Washington Office on Latin America indignantly labeled the practice "almost entirely punitive."
And there it is. Well, yes. That's precisely the point.
For Mexican nationals who have long gambled that deportation simply meant a quick, convenient trip back across the border—only to attempt another illegal entry days later—President Trump has a new, rather unpleasant surprise waiting at the end of their repatriation flight. It’s a message of consequences.
Mexico may be throwing a public tantrum, but true Americans, those who demand secure borders and respect for the rule of law, won't be losing a single moment of sleep over their predictable outrage. This is what America First looks like.
