Turns Out the Future Is Real: Tesla Unveils Flying Roadster Powered by SpaceX Thrusters

MCGREGOR, TX – Science fiction officially became reality on Thursday night as Tesla unveiled its long-awaited next-generation Roadster, featuring integrated SpaceX cold-gas thrusters capable of propelling the vehicle into short bursts of flight and blistering sub-one-second acceleration.

Hosted at a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, the high-profile reveal shattered expectations as the supercar demonstrated mind-bending engineering. During the live-streamed showcase, the Roadster accelerated up a massive curved ramp, utilized a fan-based suction system to remain completely inverted, and deployed its integrated thrusters to execute a controlled midair flip before landing safely on the ground.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk declared to the cheering crowd, "Turns out the future does have flying cars". Vice President of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy echoed the sentiment, telling attendees, "Flying cars are real".

According to Tesla specifications, select variants of the new Roadster can sprint from zero to 60 mph in an astonishing 0.81 seconds, while achieving a top speed exceeding 230 mph. The vehicle's propulsion system relies on ultra-high-pressure air tanks developed in collaboration with aerospace engineers, moving far beyond standard automotive design.

While Musk acknowledged that the specialized "Rocket" variant equipped for full flight maneuvers pushes boundaries and is not primarily optimized for standard road safety or legal compliance in every jurisdiction, the standard and "Thrust" configurations are slated to bring unprecedented performance to the consumer market. Tesla executives announced that official production for the groundbreaking halo car is scheduled to begin in 2028, with reservations now open.
