U.S. Central Command announced Saturday evening that American forces began a new round of airstrikes against Iran at 6 p.m. ET, at the direct order of the Commander in Chief.
CENTCOM stated the strikes are intended to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan the previous night.
The latest operation marks the eighth consecutive night of U.S. strikes against Iranian targets. It comes as the United States continues to enforce a naval blockade on Iranian ports while maintaining a strong military presence in the region, with more than 50,000 American service members deployed across the Middle East.
This escalation follows repeated Iranian provocations, including attacks on commercial vessels and direct strikes on U.S. positions. The Trump administration has made clear it will respond forcefully to any aggression against American forces or threats to international navigation in the critical Strait of Hormuz.
The situation remains highly volatile as U.S. forces continue operations to protect American troops and ensure freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most important energy corridors.
