USS Abraham Lincoln Deployment and Latest Israeli Strikes on Hezbollah in Focus

President Donald Trump on Friday rejected suggestions that the USS Abraham Lincoln’s extended deployment has gone on too long, saying the aircraft carrier—which has been at sea for more than 260 days supporting operations against Iran—is being replaced with a similar ship and that the current mission has “not nearly” lasted long enough.

Trump interrupted a reporter raising concerns from family members about conditions onboard, stating the vessel “is moving right now, or very shortly.” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell separately criticized media coverage, accusing outlets of turning the normal hardships of a combat deployment into a “false narrative.”

A U.S. official told Fox News on Saturday there has been no uptick in mental health issues, suicidal ideations, or attempts aboard the Abraham Lincoln. The ship carries five Navy chaplains, a clinical psychologist, a social worker, behavioral health technicians, and an expeditionary facility dog to support crew welfare. Leadership has prioritized food, hygiene items, and mail in a contested environment where traditional supply hubs were disrupted, with continuous access to clean water, functional air conditioning, and healthy meals reported.

Separately, the Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday that it had struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The IDF said the strikes followed Hezbollah action against Israeli forces in the Ali Taher ridge area within the security zone. “The IDF will not allow the Hezbollah terror organization to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and its forces, and will continue to act to remove threats,” the military stated.

Now, Iran has an obvious interest in undermining the image of American forces operating in the region. As the reliable adversaries they have long proven to be, some politicians and media outlets irresponsibly play along with—or actively participate in—that effort, preferring the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran to the reality of a victorious Trump. Shame on them, and may God Bless our Armed Forces.
