Washington Democrats have spent years insisting that their increasingly progressive agenda is somehow about helping ordinary Americans.
The White House is now turning that argument back on them—with a list.
On Wednesday, the White House released a pointed rundown of what it described as the Democrats’ “top 10 insane positions,” targeting policies and votes that Republicans say reveal just how far the party has moved toward progressive ideology.
And some of the items are difficult to explain away.
Take taxes.
The White House highlighted Democrats’ opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill in 2025, legislation that included provisions such as No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime. Every Democrat in both the House and Senate voted against the bill, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote in the Senate.
So much for putting more money in working Americans’ pockets.
The list then turned to Iran, accusing Democrats of opposing efforts to hold the Islamic Republic accountable for decades of terrorism.
Another target was insider trading legislation. The White House criticized Democrats for opposing measures intended to prevent members of Congress from profiting from stock trading while serving in office—a particularly potent issue given long-running scrutiny of congressional stock transactions.
Then came healthcare transparency.
The White House pointed to Democratic opposition to legislation requiring hospitals to prominently display healthcare prices. For Americans trying to figure out what a medical procedure will actually cost, that is not an abstract Washington argument. It is the difference between having information before receiving a bill and discovering the price after the fact.
But the most explosive issue may be election integrity.
The White House slammed Democrats over their opposition to the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote or update a registration for federal elections.
The basic premise is almost embarrassingly simple: if someone is registering to vote in an American election, why shouldn't they have to prove they are an American citizen?
Polling cited in the source material found that 83% of Americans support voter ID. Yet congressional Democrats have opposed the SAVE America Act and other Republican-backed election-integrity measures.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has repeatedly compared voter-identification requirements to “Jim Crow 2.0.”
That comparison deserves scrutiny.
Asking someone to establish who they are and whether they are eligible to vote is not the equivalent of segregation. It is a basic safeguard for public trust in elections.
And there it is.
The larger fight is not really about paperwork. It is about whether Americans should be expected to trust an election system while being told that even basic verification is somehow beyond the pale.
Republicans have increasingly made election integrity, government accountability and economic freedom central themes of the America First agenda. The White House’s list fits directly into that strategy: take individual Democratic votes and positions, put them side by side, and let voters judge the pattern.
Democrats can call the list partisan. They can dismiss it as political theater.
But voters still have to live with the policies behind the headlines.
Lower taxes. Transparent healthcare prices. Accountability for hostile foreign regimes. Rules against congressional self-dealing. And confidence that only eligible American citizens are participating in federal elections.
Apparently, asking for those things is controversial in today’s Democratic Party.
