Primaries for governor will be held on october 14th. General election will be on November 18th, if needed. There are ballots in both dates.

Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary. A candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote, otherwise, the top two most voted for the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation. There are 16 candidates.
