Democrats have been busy doing something reckless lately: openly inciting activists on the Left against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. And in the process, they’re either missing — or simply ignoring — a very obvious problem: their actions risk protecting criminals, some of whom are extremely dangerous, while putting both federal agents and agitators in harm’s way. But for many of them, opposing President Donald Trump seems to matter more than public safety. Priorities, right?
That reality was on full display when Rep. Jimmy Gomez of California publicly reported ICE activity and encouraged others to do the same by sharing a phone number. In plain terms, that’s urging people to interfere with federal law enforcement — not exactly subtle, and certainly not responsible.
That’s when First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, stepped in with what can only be described as a perfectly calibrated response. Instead of panicking or posturing, Essayli pointed out a simple truth: if everyone floods that line with inaccurate or meaningless information, it becomes useless. The result? The agitators’ own tactic collapses under its own weight.
It didn’t take long for people on X to catch on. Many openly indicated they intended to do exactly that, making it clear that Gomez’s effort to undermine ICE would likely backfire — badly. That phone line? Very busy. Mission accomplished, just not the one Democrats were hoping for.
The bigger issue here is one Democrats keep refusing to face. Supporting law enforcement and enforcing the law isn’t radical. It’s basic governance. Instead of siding with chaos and political theatrics, they could have chosen to put the safety and interests of their constituents first.
But while some politicians chase attention and score points against Trump, professionals like Essayli quietly remind everyone that the rule of law still matters — and that common sense hasn’t left the building. In the end, that steady leadership is exactly why Americans continue to trust law enforcement and support a president who believes borders, laws, and public safety are worth defending.
