What began as celebration of "freedom and identity"  at Berlin's Christopher Street Day pride parade abruptly transformed into a scene of terror and tragedy Saturday night. A white van, driven by an unknown motorist, plowed at high speed into a dense crowd of revelers in the central Tiergarten area around 10 PM local time.

The chaotic impact left a trail of devastation. According to Berlin Police, at least 17 people were injured, and one individual has tragically died. Several others are fighting for their lives with life-threatening injuries, turning a public gathering into a desperate emergency.

A massive manhunt is now underway. Berlin Police announced an "intensive manhunt for suspects," stating that "one or more suspects" are currently being searched for "at full throttle." Witnesses reportedly saw a man exit the vehicle and flee the scene on foot, but authorities have released no further information on the perpetrator or any potential motive.
