Rogers, a former FBI special agent and former U.S. Congressman, welcomed moderate voters and disillusioned Democrats who feel alienated by El-Sayed’s progressive platform. The strategic move comes as polls show a razor-close general election contest between Rogers and El-Sayed for the pivotal Michigan U.S. Senate seat.
Voters participating in the coalition reported that they had never backed a Republican candidate before, but chose to break party lines due to concerns over El-Sayed's economic and domestic policy stances.
