The Department of Defense sent a strongly worded message to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass following her insane reaction on Monday, trying to stop ICE agents who were attempting to conduct a raid on the McArthur Park area, which has a known MS-13 presence.
In a post on X, the DOD made it clear it will protect law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while they do their job to protect American citizens.
“U.S. military personnel are on the ground to ensure the safety of federal agents,” the DOD’s post read. “We will protect federal law enforcement and assist by establishing a security perimeter.”
The Department’s post includes Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who wrote about the raid in the sanctuary city of LA.
“BREAKING: We are with hundreds of federal agents and military as a massive federal immigration enforcement operation is underway in the MacArthur Park area of the sanctuary city of Los Angeles, an area with heavy MS-13 influence,” the post read. “Mayor Bass has demanded raids stop, Feds respond with one of the largest yet, including Border Patrol agents on horseback. Protesters already showing up.”
RedState’s Sister Toldjah wrote about what happened when Bass showed up and demanded the raid end.
“They need to leave, and they need to leave right now!” Bass told members of the press.
The mayor also tried to claim that before the agents showed up, there were dozens of kids playing in the park. However, those claims appeared to be shut down by Blaze immigration reporter Julio Rosas:
“I would be shocked if there were kids playing in McArthur Park before. The whole area is covered in trash, human waste, and a bunch of drugged-out people,” Rosas’ post read.
Toldjah noted the AP report on the raid and the National Guardās presence.
The operation in the large park about 2 miles west of downtown LA included 17 Humvees, four tactical vehicles, two ambulances, and armed soldiers, defense officials said. It came after President Donald Trump deployed thousands of Guard members and active duty Marines to the city last month following protests over previous immigration raids.
Following Bass’ hysterical stunt at the raid, the Los Angeles Mayor revealed that she spoke with Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, who later told Melugin what he thought about Bass’ actions, RedState reported.
BOVINO: I don’t work for Karen Bass. Better get used to us now, cause this is going to be normal very soon. We will go anywhere, anytime we want in Los Angeles.
As RedState’s Bonchie reported:
This is the kind of backlash that was so easy to see coming, yet Democrats just can’t help themselves. Originally, ICE was focusing its efforts on coordinating with local law enforcement to see immigration retainers honored. Sanctuary cities like Los Angeles refuse to cooperate, though. That means federal authorities now have to go into communities and conduct on-site raids, and the moment politicians like Bass started crying foul, it was a foregone conclusion that Border Czar Tom Homan and company would only turn up the heat further.
