DHS Secretary Blasts Democrats Over FIFA Security Funding Fight: ‘They’ve Lost Their Moral Compass’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin traveled to Kansas City on Friday with a sharp warning about national security, accusing Democrats of putting politics ahead of public safety as the city prepares to host six matches during the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Mullin argued that repeated funding battles surrounding immigration enforcement and DHS operations have left the agency struggling to properly prepare for one of the world’s largest sporting events. And considering the millions of international visitors expected to travel through host cities, the concerns are far from minor.

According to Mullin, the administration is racing against the clock to ensure security infrastructure, personnel, and coordination are fully in place before the tournament begins. He specifically criticized Democrats for targeting ICE and border enforcement resources while simultaneously demanding flawless security operations for major international events.

The DHS secretary didn’t hold back, saying Democrats have “lost their moral compass” by prioritizing political attacks on immigration agencies over protecting American communities and critical events.

For many conservatives, the criticism reflects growing frustration over what they see as a dangerous contradiction: politicians publicly demanding weakened immigration enforcement while expecting airtight national security at massive global gatherings.

Kansas City is one of several U.S. host cities preparing for the World Cup, an event expected to attract enormous crowds, international media attention, and heightened security risks. Federal agencies, local law enforcement, and international partners are all expected to coordinate extensively throughout the tournament.

Mullin emphasized that DHS personnel continue working to secure the event despite ongoing political battles in Washington. Supporters of the administration argue the situation highlights why strong border enforcement and properly funded homeland security operations remain essential — especially during a time of rising global instability and increasing security concerns worldwide.

Critics of Democrat immigration policies also point out that major international events require exactly the kind of coordinated enforcement infrastructure that progressive lawmakers have spent years attacking. Apparently “abolish ICE” sounds different when your city is hosting the World Cup.

Despite the political clashes, DHS officials insist preparations remain underway and that security teams are committed to ensuring the tournament proceeds safely. And as America prepares to welcome the world for one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, many voters are once again being reminded that public safety isn’t something you can treat like an optional budget item.
