DOJ Turns Up the Heat: New Obstruction Charge Exposes FBI's 2020 Hunter Biden Cover-Up

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has ratcheted up the pressure on two former senior FBI officials, adding an obstruction charge to their existing indictment. These individuals stand accused of blatantly lying to Congress regarding their involvement in sensitive investigations tied to Hunter Biden, a scandal that had profound implications for the integrity of the 2020 election.

A superseding criminal complaint, filed this week, directly implicates Nicole Floris, the former deputy assistant director of the FBI’s now-dissolved Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), and Bradley Benavides, its former section chief. Prosecutors assert they corruptly obstructed a critical House Judiciary Committee probe, an investigation aimed at uncovering the truth behind the federal government's role in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story.

The new charge outlines how Floris and Benavides allegedly provided false testimony in 2023. Their goal, according to prosecutors, was to conceal the FITF’s deep engagement with Hunter Biden matters and to stonewall congressional efforts to expose the truth.

According to the affidavit supporting these serious charges, Floris brazenly testified that she "did not" have any involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation, claiming "no personal knowledge of Hunter Biden ever being the subject of any discussion at the FITF." Benavides, for his part, offered an even more absurd defense, telling lawmakers he only learned of the FBI’s possession of the infamous laptop from a Wikipedia article and insisted he had "absolutely not" known about it during his tenure.

However, the affidavit paints a starkly different picture, exposing what appears to be a calculated campaign of deception. Floris allegedly circulated a Senate report specifically mentioning a possible Burisma bribe, signed off on internal assessments, and actively helped manage the FBI’s response after the New York Post bravely published the laptop story in October 2020. Benavides was reportedly just as involved, speaking with colleagues about the laptop on the very day the story broke and approving 'talking points' that conveniently suggested the authentic laptop content might be Russian disinformation. Funny how that always seems to happen in one direction when it comes to Democrat scandals.

The sheer audacity of these alleged actions is underscored by a declassified chat log released by the White House in July. In it, Floris was caught claiming, "I am basically running a shadow government inside the FBI right now." This chilling admission offers a glimpse into the mindset of unaccountable bureaucrats who believe they operate above the law and beyond the reach of elected representatives, precisely what the America First movement warns against.

This latest obstruction charge builds upon earlier reports that Floris and Benavides were initially charged with lying to Congress about their involvement in these Hunter Biden-related investigations.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, in announcing the initial charges, did not mince words, pointing to the disturbing belief among some senior FBI officials that they are untouchable. "Lying to Congress by anyone strikes at the heart of our democratic system, but when senior FBI agents lie to Congress believing they are above the law, it's time to bring the hammer of justice down on them," Pirro declared. She further emphasized, "When senior officials entrusted with safeguarding our nation's security choose deception over duty, they undermine the very institutions they swore to uphold."

Adding to the damning evidence, it was revealed that both Floris and Benavides served in the since-dissolved FBI Foreign Influence Task Force, with Floris leading as a Deputy Assistant Director and Benavides as Section Chief during the critical period from mid-2019 through the 2020 election. Despite their testimony denying FITF involvement in Hunter Biden probes, documentary evidence, contemporaneous communications, and witness accounts all stand in stark contradiction. The embedded tweet further highlights that the FBI has already dismantled the "corrupt CR-15 squad that engaged in political weaponization targeting their opponents, including President Trump." This clearly demonstrates a pattern of institutional bias that demands relentless scrutiny.

While Floris and Benavides are entitled to the presumption of innocence, the American people are certainly entitled to a thorough investigation into whether these agents misled them regarding the pivotal 2020 election. Their lawyers, predictably, have vigorously denied the allegations, characterizing them as "political persecution." Floris' lawyers claimed the government’s reasons are "transparent as they are unjust: to push a false narrative for a shot at political points." Benavides’ attorney dismissed the charges as a "disgrace," painting his client as a "true patriot who devoted his career to protecting this country and its people." Such defenses often ring hollow when confronted with overwhelming evidence of systemic cover-ups.

Floris and Benavides made their initial court appearance last Friday. The case now awaits a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., to return an indictment before it can proceed further. This is a crucial step towards ensuring that justice is served and that those who sought to weaponize government agencies against the American public are held fully accountable.

This ongoing saga is more than just a legal case; it is a battle for the soul of our institutions and a testament to the America First commitment to rooting out corruption at the highest levels. The persistent efforts to bring accountability to those who undermined election integrity in 2020 send a clear message: no one, not even the powerful within the FBI, is above the law. Patriots across the nation will be watching closely as this vital pursuit of truth and justice unfolds.
