Exclusive: Trump Taps Conservative Powerhouse Dan Bishop as U.S. Attorney for North Carolina

President Donald Trump is gearing up to make another America First move — this time by appointing Dan Bishop, a rock-solid conservative and current Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), as the next U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina. According to senior White House officials, Bishop could start as early as next week on an interim basis while awaiting Senate confirmation.

For anyone who’s been paying attention, this appointment is no surprise. Bishop’s been one of the fiercest constitutional voices in Washington since his days in Congress, where he earned a reputation for holding bureaucrats accountable and calling out corruption where others looked the other way. He was already confirmed by the Senate earlier this year in a 53–45 vote for his OMB role — so, good luck to Democrats trying to argue he’s not qualified now.

Bishop has long called for a full overhaul of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division (CRD) — a division that, let’s be honest, has spent years acting more like an activist legal nonprofit than a neutral law enforcement body. He’s been outspoken about the CRD’s selective prosecutions, especially their obsession with punishing conservatives while letting left-wing radicals skate free. As Bishop put it, the division “signals its abortion fervor with harsh FACE Act prosecutions for obstructing abortion clinics but acts sparingly and lightly on threats and vandalism against pregnancy counseling centers.”

He’s exactly the kind of fighter the Justice Department needs right now — someone unafraid to take on the entrenched “color revolution wing” of the DOJ that Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, has warned about. Bishop’s priorities line up perfectly with Trump’s vision: restoring integrity to elections, reforming warped Title IX enforcement, ending DEI nonsense, and stopping the government from playing censorship cop online.

As a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, Bishop helped expose the Biden administration’s misuse of federal power — from labeling parents as “domestic terrorists” for speaking up at school board meetings to the FBI’s manipulation of January 6 cases to fit a political narrative. He even grilled witnesses on what he called “the largest censorship program ever run by the government of the United States,” asking how federal agents could possibly justify suppressing constitutionally protected speech.

Before his time in Congress, Bishop built an impressive legal career as a commercial litigator for nearly 30 years, earning honors like “Super Lawyer” and being named to Business NC’s “Legal Elite” multiple times. He also served in the North Carolina General Assembly and as a county commissioner — meaning he knows the people, the law, and the political system from top to bottom.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Bishop’s roots run deep. He’s been married to his wife, Jo, for 25 years, and their son Jack is following in his footsteps as a law student. It’s a family built on faith, service, and love of country — everything the Left can’t quite understand.

Once confirmed, Bishop will oversee all federal law enforcement in North Carolina’s Middle District. For North Carolinians tired of the DOJ being used as a political weapon, this appointment is more than just personnel news — it’s a sign that Trump’s plan to restore justice, accountability, and the rule of law is full steam ahead.

In short: Biden’s DOJ has had its turn running amok. Now it’s time for Dan Bishop — and President Trump’s America First Justice Department — to clean house.
