The deep state's carefully constructed narrative surrounding COVID-19's origins has been shattered once again, this time by Dr. Anthony Fauci's own diary. Newly unearthed entries reveal the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) possessed secret, high-level intelligence about the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and its activities, even as Fauci aggressively dismissed any notion of a lab leak.

According to a copy of Fauci's diary, recently made public by Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a CIA employee named Camille Hartman informed Fauci during a June 4, 2021, meeting that the spy agency had intercepted conversations in China. These intercepts pointed to a distinct lack of transparency from the Chinese Communist Party regarding their labs, including the transfer of pangolin viruses from Beijing researchers to Wuhan.

Fauci's diary further indicates that CIA officials believed these pangolin viruses were being utilized in studies involving transgenic mice. This intelligence emerged on the very same day that researchers, whose work was backed by Fauci's National Institutes of Health, were privately discussing the possibility of WIV experimenting with pangolin viruses.

Kristian Andersen, a researcher involved in these private chats, told his colleagues, "From the journo Eddie was talking to - 'the pangolins WIV was using in [coronavirus] studies.' Wait, what? Do we know about WIV working in pangolin [coronaviruses] in the lab? If so, that's huge."

Chinese researchers confirmed in a 2023 paper that pangolin samples were indeed collected and stored at the WIV in 2020. Furthermore, a paper from the Decentralized Radical Autonomous Search Team Investigating COVID-19 suggests that experiments on pangolin coronaviruses could have directly led to the creation of COVID-19.

Yet, despite these alarming revelations from America's premier intelligence agency, Fauci's diary entry from that same June 4, 2021, meeting painted a picture of outright dismissal. The CIA briefers, Fauci wrote, also conveyed that "they have information from sources that unknown experiments well conducted by the military in Wu Han."

Fauci's response to these intelligence professionals? He declared the CIA personnel "naive and uninformed" and felt he was being "questioned," prompting him to wonder if he should have a lawyer present. His concluding thought on the matter: "There is something very fishy about all of this." The irony, of course, is that Fauci himself was the one obscuring the truth.

This unsettling pattern continued. Intelligence briefing summaries of Fauci’s June 2021 meeting, made public earlier this year, show Fauci actively promoting the idea that COVID-19 originated naturally. He advised officials to review a paper outlining two lineages from two separate markets and to recall that it took 12 years to link SARS to a bat. He even recommended they speak to researchers who publicly favored a natural origin, including Andersen.

This is the same Andersen who, with others, penned a March 2020 paper dismissing a laboratory construct as "implausible," all while privately admitting to doubts about that very conclusion.

Approximately four weeks after his contentious meeting with the CIA, Fauci met with National Security Council officials. He wrote in his diary that Beth Cameron, an NSC official, wanted to provide him an "official briefing because of the catastrophic briefing that the amateurs from the CIA gave me several weeks ago."

Fauci's diary entry after this second briefing is equally revealing: "There were no new surprises for me in the briefing except that it became clear that the FBI has no idea what they’re talking about since they are convinced that the origin of COVID-19 is from a laboratory leak."

Fauci, without detailing the FBI's reasoning, dismissed their position as not making "any sense." He instead urged officials to consult Andersen and the other authors of the March 2020 paper, who, again, were privately expressing doubts about their public statements. Fauci then launched into his familiar refrain, explaining the "multiple reasons epidemiologically and molecularly why it is almost certain that the virus evolved naturally from a species jump," while giving lip service to an "open mind."

"However, in this regard, I emphasized that just because two alternatives are possible that does not mean that they are equally probable," Fauci wrote, attempting to dictate the probabilities. "I believe that they understood where I was coming from and that it turned out to be a very good meeting."

This entire saga highlights the deep divisions within the government, with Fauci seemingly at odds with intelligence agencies seeking the truth. As early as 2020, CIA analysts assessed that the most likely origin of COVID-19 was the Wuhan Lab, a senior officer told Senator Paul and other lawmakers in May. The CIA was even considering formally describing the origin as a lab leak in 2021, before abruptly shifting away from that stance, according to documents released in June.

Initial declassified assessments through August 2021 claimed only one agency favored a lab origin. Yet, an updated assessment in mid-2023 stated that the FBI, along with the Department of Energy, found a lab incident to be the most likely origin of COVID-19.

The CIA and an unnamed second agency were initially unable to determine origins, citing reliance on "significant assumptions or face challenges with conflicting reporting." Five other agencies supported a natural origin at that time. But in 2025, the CIA finally gave an update stating that a lab origin was the "more likely" explanation.

Fauci's diary entries reveal a powerful figure determined to control the narrative, even when faced with compelling intelligence from America's spy agencies. His dismissal of the CIA as "amateurs" and the FBI as clueless underscores a dangerous arrogance, where truth takes a backseat to a preferred story. For the American people, who endured unprecedented lockdowns and mandates based on this very narrative, these revelations demand full accountability and unwavering transparency from all those involved in the COVID-19 saga.
