Israeli forces confirmed Wednesday the killing of Hamas military chief Mohammed Odeh, a senior figure previously responsible for intelligence operations within the group and described by Israeli officials as one of the key planners behind the October 7 attacks.
The announcement came just 11 days after Israel eliminated his predecessor, marking a continued escalation in targeted operations against Hamas leadership.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that every individual involved in the October 7 assault is now “marked for death,” reinforcing Israel’s ongoing commitment to pursue those responsible for the attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the operation was carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency following months of intelligence tracking Odeh’s movements and network.
According to Israeli military and intelligence assessments, Odeh was among the last remaining senior Hamas commanders directly linked to the planning and execution of the October 7 assault, in which approximately 1,200 people were killed and 251 individuals were taken hostage.
The strike underscores Israel’s continued campaign targeting Hamas leadership as part of its broader military response following the deadliest attack on Israeli civilians in decades.
Israeli officials maintain that operations will continue against remaining figures believed to be involved in the planning or execution of the massacre, as regional tensions remain high and security operations continue across multiple fronts.
