In a revealing moment of internal dissent, a former top Obama strategist has publicly slammed Georgia Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff, a supposed rising star of the left, for what he called a "gratuitous and unnecessary" attack on President Donald Trump's executive assistant, Natalie Harp.

Ossoff, whose ambition has fueled speculation about a 2028 presidential bid, recently delivered a viral campaign speech targeting President Trump with a barrage of familiar, baseless accusations. But it was his pivot to a new, entirely inappropriate target that ignited a firestorm: a dedicated member of President Trump’s staff.
During his rally remarks, Ossoff launched into a tirade against Trump, claiming he was "sleeping through his meetings" and "golfing and trading stocks" while soldiers were supposedly "fighting his war" and "draining our munitions and oil reserves." Then came the truly unhinged part.
"So, he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar," Ossoff declared, taking a cheap shot at an executive assistant with no policy role.

This low blow immediately drew condemnation from President Trump, his allies, and his family. More significantly, it provoked a rare rebuke from within the Democrat establishment: David Axelrod, a key architect of Barack Obama’s two presidential victories and former senior advisor.
While Axelrod, a seasoned Democratic Party figure, has previously applauded Ossoff’s "eloquent or incisive" attacks on Trump, he drew a line at the personal smear. Speaking on X, Axelrod stated, "The paragraph from his weekend speech that has gotten so much attention was a brutal takedown. But two words in it, ‘with Natalie,’ seemed gratuitous and unnecessary."

Axelrod suggested that the Ossoff campaign likely "juiced the virality" of the clip, which has garnered millions of views, believing it would "thrill some in the base, who figured it was just giving Trump a taste of his own nasty medicine." Yet, he warned, "But they distracted and detracted from the power of the message."

Rep. Mike Collins, Ossoff's Republican opponent in Georgia, wholeheartedly agreed with Axelrod’s sentiment, exposing the desperation behind such tactics. "It's disgusting that he would attack a young female staffer just to score cheap political points with his radical activist base," Collins said. "It's unbecoming of a U.S. senator, and the fact prominent Democrats are starting to call him out just proves it."
The incident perfectly illustrates the radicalized fringe within the Democratic Party, which now openly champions such personal attacks. Figures like "Jojofromjerz," a notable online Democrat, dismissed Axelrod as "100% wrong," declaring Ossoff’s callout "genius" and arguing that the "political world has changed." Apparently, common sense and basic decency are now "antiquated rules" for some on the left.
For his part, Ossoff appears to revel in the controversy, brushing off criticism and even President Trump’s playful jab of calling him a "Pee-wee Herman look-alike." During an appearance on MS NOW, Ossoff arrogantly countered, "No one cares about their feelings."
"It's been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week," Ossoff continued, dismissing the principled objections. "And about Natalie Harp, these White House staffers are adults, public officials paid by the taxpayers with immense power in positions of public trust." A classic deflection, attempting to normalize a gratuitous personal attack by claiming their victim is "an adult."
This incident is more than just a political dust-up; it's a stark reminder of how low some on the left are willing to stoop in their relentless war against President Trump and the America First movement. When even a former Obama insider points out the "gratuitous" nature of an attack, it reveals a profound lack of judgment and a disturbing willingness to target anyone, regardless of their role, in pursuit of partisan points. Americans deserve leaders who focus on substance, not character assassination against non-political staffers.
