Southern California beaches are once again being slammed by contaminated water as a growing wave of sewage from Mexico continues flowing into U.S. coastal areas. Officials in Coronado, near San Diego, have issued repeated warnings telling people to stay out of the water — because apparently a beach day now comes with a complimentary health risk.
County authorities placed warning signs along the shoreline after polluted runoff from the Tijuana River carried untreated wastewater into the Pacific Ocean. Ocean currents then push the contamination north, directly impacting American beaches and communities.
Even the famous Hotel del Coronado has not escaped the mess. Waters near the historic beachfront property have faced closures due to unsafe conditions caused by the ongoing sewage problem.
Health officials have linked the contamination to respiratory issues and other illnesses affecting nearby residents. Yet despite years of warnings and complaints, the crisis keeps getting worse while hardworking American communities are left dealing with the consequences. Shocking, right? Government officials always seem surprised when ignoring a problem doesn’t magically fix it.
Residents and visitors are being urged to avoid water contact until conditions improve. Communities across Southern California continue demanding stronger action to protect public health, local businesses, and some of America’s most beautiful coastlines. One thing is certain — Americans are tired of watching their beaches become dumping grounds, and pressure is growing for real solutions that finally put U.S. communities first.
