You can’t make this stuff up. In what might be the most astonishing campaign promise of the year, Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh, a self-described democratic socialist now running for mayor of Minneapolis, says he wants city officials to alert illegal immigrants ahead of federal ICE raids. Because apparently, protecting the lawbreakers is now a pillar of progressive “leadership.”
During a podcast interview, Fateh explained that he wants “better communication between the mayor, the chief, and the city council” so they can be “alerted immediately” when immigration enforcement is on the way. His reasoning? So the city council can “disseminate that information to folks.” In plain English — so illegals can get a heads-up before law enforcement knocks on their door.
He then doubled down, insisting that the city must “lock arms” with “boots-on-the-ground” organizations already offering “Know Your Rights” sessions and legal advice to undocumented immigrants. Translation: the same groups that teach people how to avoid cooperating with ICE. Fateh warned, “Things are scary, and it’s going to get scarier.”
You don’t say. It sure will be scary — for American citizens — if their city’s next mayor decides to run interference for anyone breaking federal law.
Under Minneapolis’s current “separation ordinance,” city employees — including police officers and firefighters — are already prohibited from assisting with civil immigration enforcement. Fateh, of course, wants to make that law even stricter. Because if there’s one thing Minneapolis needs more of, it’s politicians tying the hands of police while prioritizing non-citizens over taxpayers.
Fateh’s mayoral platform reads like a far-left wish list:
-
Limiting police power and replacing officers with “non-police emergency responders.”
-
Opposing cooperation with ICE altogether.
-
Expanding funding for immigrant rights initiatives (your wallet, their cause).
-
Implementing new carbon fees because, why not make energy more expensive too?
This is the same Omar Fateh who accused Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) of “white supremacy” for daring to oppose taxpayer-funded college tuition for illegal aliens. He’s also labeled U.S. policing “systemically white supremacist.”
Breitbart’s reporting adds a few more highlights to his résumé:
-
He opened his campaign office as a “support hub” during the 2020 George Floyd riots.
-
He returned thousands in campaign donations tied to the FBI’s Feeding Our Future fraud probe.
-
He pushed Amazon to grant mandatory prayer breaks for Muslim workers.
-
He supported banning tear gas and rubber bullets (good luck controlling a riot that way).
-
And he voted “uncommitted” in Minnesota’s 2024 primary to protest President Biden’s Israel policy.
Fateh briefly held the Minnesota DFL’s endorsement for mayor, until the party’s own rules committee yanked it over “voting irregularities.” Yet, with a straight face, he insists he’s still the victim — backed by none other than Rep. Ilhan Omar and former Rep. Jamaal Bowman. There’s a shocker.
So to recap: Omar Fateh wants to defund police, block ICE, warn illegals of raids, hike taxes through carbon fees, and fill City Hall with activists who think laws are optional. If this is what passes for “leadership” in Minneapolis these days, maybe the city really has gone from “Land of 10,000 Lakes” to “Land of Zero Accountability.”
But here’s the good news — the voters still have a say. Minneapolis doesn’t have to settle for chaos dressed up as compassion. Common-sense citizens can still reclaim their city, their safety, and their sanity
