NYC Mayor's Anti-ICE Rant Slammed as 'Dangerous' After Illegal Immigrant With Criminal Past Shot Resisting Arrest

In a stunning display of anti-law enforcement radicalism, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani ignited controversy by attacking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after agents were forced to open fire on an illegal immigrant who violently resisted arrest. Mamdani's inflammatory remarks were swiftly condemned by Department of Homeland Security Press Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who branded the mayor's rhetoric as "dangerous."

Following the incident, Mayor Mamdani wasted no time in unleashing a tirade against ICE, baselessly claiming the agency has "killed far more of our neighbors than they could ever have claimed to save." He then reiterated his extreme call to "abolish" the agency, a demand that defies common sense and endangers public safety. This is the same mayor who previously demanded that the former administration release the illegal immigrant shot by ICE, demonstrating a clear preference for criminals over law enforcement.

Mullin minced no words in his rebuttal during a Friday press conference. "His words are dangerous and incite hostility," Mullin declared, directly challenging Mamdani's reckless stance. "Well mayor, if you abolish ICE, who's going to take criminals off the streets of your own town?" The question hangs heavy, exposing the glaring void in Mamdani's abolish-the-police, open-borders ideology.

The facts of the shooting incident paint a starkly different picture than Mamdani's narrative. According to ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Executive Associate Director Marcos Charles, the individual shot, Oscar Belgal, brazenly defied lawful orders. Belgal, who entered the U.S. illegally from the Dominican Republic, had a documented history of "crime after crime" and had previously "evaded law enforcement before when we attempted to arrest him in September."

During the confrontation, Belgal "refused lawful orders to exit his vehicle." Then, in a desperate and dangerous act, he "accelerated his vehicle, smashing into two of our government ICE vehicles and then weaponized his vehicle and proceeded to accelerate going towards other officers." This was not a passive encounter; this was a direct assault on federal agents.

Compounding the outrage, a child was present in Belgal's vehicle during the incident. While authorities were unaware of the child's presence at the time, Mullin was quick to underscore the critical distinction: "Oscar knew he had a child in his car." This vital detail highlights the criminal's utter disregard for human life, including that of a child, as he chose to engage in a violent confrontation with law enforcement rather than comply.

Mayor Mamdani's immediate leap to defend a repeat offender who illegally entered our nation and then attacked federal agents exposes the rot within radical progressive leadership. His calls to dismantle agencies like ICE are not just dangerous; they are an assault on national sovereignty, public safety, and the very rule of law that underpins a civilized society. Americans, especially those in New York City, deserve leaders who prioritize the safety of citizens and uphold law and order, not those who champion criminals and undermine the brave men and women protecting our borders and streets. This ongoing crisis at our border and in our cities demands accountability, not the dangerous rhetoric peddled by the radical left, which only emboldens criminals and makes our communities less safe. The America First movement stands firm against such dangerous ideology, always prioritizing the security of our nation and its people.
