NYC Professor Praises Iran’s Military, Calls for End of ‘US Empire’ at DSA Event

The enemy within.

A New York City college professor is drawing criticism after defending Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and calling for the downfall of what she described as the “U.S. empire” during a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) event.

Corinna Mullin, a political science professor known for her anti-Israel activism, delivered a lengthy presentation during an “Islamic Revolution Teach-in” hosted by the New York City chapter of the DSA. During the event, Mullin argued that Iran had emerged victorious in its recent confrontation with the United States and praised the country's military capabilities.

“Iran has won this war... its indigenous military industry has produced phenomenal results,” Mullin said while discussing Iran’s armed forces and military development.

The remarks have generated controversy because they included praise for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a powerful branch of Iran’s military that has long been at the center of regional conflicts and tensions involving the United States and its allies.

Mullin also reportedly called for bringing down the American empire “by any means necessary,” language that critics argue reflects an increasingly radical strain of anti-American activism within some far-left political circles.

The professor is no stranger to controversy. She was previously arrested in connection with anti-Israel demonstrations that resulted in significant damage to property at the City College of New York’s Harlem campus. Her latest comments have renewed scrutiny of the ideological positions being promoted at certain activist gatherings and academic events.

Supporters of Mullin may view her remarks as criticism of U.S. foreign policy, but opponents argue that openly praising a foreign military adversary while calling for the collapse of American influence crosses a line that many voters find troubling. Apparently, some activists have become so determined to oppose America that they end up celebrating governments and military organizations that stand in direct opposition to American interests.

The incident is likely to add fuel to ongoing debates about political extremism, anti-American rhetoric, and the growing influence of radical ideologies within certain activist movements. As those discussions continue, many Americans remain committed to the principles of freedom, democracy, and national security that have long defined the nation’s role on the world stage.
