Think about that for a moment: in today's Democrat Party, fighting for Maine's half-billion-dollar lobster industry and allowing Congress to vote on a resolution against the perils of socialism are now considered acts of political heresy.
While Democrats may attempt to hide behind procedural arguments, the American people aren't fooled. They understand that their representatives are supposed to protect livelihoods. Golden's legislation aimed to shield Maine's vital lobster industry, which sustains thousands of families and coastal communities. Similarly, Gluesenkamp Perez stood up for families in her southwest Washington district, where fishing and natural resource industries are the backbone of the economy. Both chose the interests of workers over what they rightly saw as impractical mandates.
Rep. Golden himself perfectly captured the absurdity of the situation: "Could you imagine going home to your constituents and being like, ‘I was trying to help you, but I had to vote no’?" This blunt question exposes the core demand from Democratic leadership: abandon the very people who elected you, and prioritize the party's ideological agenda above all else.
