Patel Says Minnesota Fraud Probes Were “Buried” Under Biden Administration

FBI Director Claims Investigation Was Sidelined Due to Political Connections

FBI Director Kash Patel says major fraud investigations in Minnesota were deliberately buried under former President Joe Biden, according to reporting by investigative journalist Catherine Herridge. And wouldn’t you know it—politics may have had something to do with it.

Herridge reported on X that Patel has been tracking the Minnesota welfare fraud case for months and claims the Biden administration originally opened the investigation but then quietly buried it because it risked implicating Biden allies. Transparency, apparently, has its limits when the wrong names might come up.

A Growing Web of Fraud Investigations

According to Herridge, between late May 2025 and December 2025, the FBI had 16 open investigations involving roughly 32 healthcare and in-home care providers accused of fraud. What began as a state-level scandal has now expanded into a much broader probe.

The investigation is reportedly examining whether similar fraud schemes occurred nationwide and whether there are links to elected officials or even terrorist financing. Yes, that escalated quickly—and raises serious questions about how long this was allowed to go unchecked.

Herridge noted that potential criminal violations under review include public corruption, fraud, cyber fraud, healthcare fraud, homecare fraud, and money laundering. In other words, not exactly paperwork errors.

Mounting Indictments and Convictions

The scope of the scandal is already significant. So far, 78 people have been indicted and 57 have been convicted in connection with the fraud. Investigators are also examining whether federal nutrition programs were exploited.

One major focus is the Feeding Our Future case, which Herridge described as an alleged $250 million fraud scheme. According to the reporting, the program obtained federal COVID-era funding intended to provide meals for children, but in reality, few—if any—meals were actually delivered.

The money, investigators allege, was laundered through multiple entities to enrich those involved. Pandemic relief meant to help children instead became a payday for fraudsters, all while federal oversight looked the other way.

Calls for Accountability Grow Louder

On Newsmax’s Finnerty, host Rob Finnerty blasted Democrats for what he described as a coordinated effort to cover up the scandal. He called for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison to testify before Congress.

Finnerty argued that after years of aggressive prosecutions targeting Trump allies—including the Mar-a-Lago raid, early-morning arrests broadcast on television, and multiple jail sentences—the time has come for accountability on the left.

He said accountability should extend to everyone involved in the scandal, regardless of political party, and reach “all the way to the top” if necessary. After watching conservatives prosecuted relentlessly, Finnerty suggested, Americans are right to expect the same standard applied across the board.

As the investigation continues to expand, the message from Patel and others is clear: fraud on this scale doesn’t disappear on its own—and burying it only makes the reckoning worse. With new leadership at the FBI and growing public scrutiny, accountability may finally be back on the table, which is exactly where it belongs.
