A staggering 242 pieces of legislation have been identified across 32 states, with about a fifth already passed into law. While enthusiastically supported by state Democrats, many of these measures face immediate legal challenges from the federal government, and even some Democrat governors, fearing the radical overreach, have been forced to veto certain proposals.
The bills are designed to cripple federal law enforcement at every turn. They seek to ban federal agents from wearing masks – a move President Trump has rightly blasted as unconstitutional – and deny them the use of undercover license plates, prompting federal lawsuits to halt such blatant obstruction. Obama-appointed judges were even worse, ruling against ICE in 95 percent of more than 4,300 cases. Even President George W. Bush’s deputies ruled against ICE in 90 percent of cases.
In stark contrast, Trump-nominated judges backed ICE in 34 percent of nearly 4,000 cases, while President Ronald Reagan’s remaining judges supported ICE’s detention efforts in 36 percent of their cases.
